I came across this old ad on a friend’s blog.
It may help improve your marriage if:
- You make terrible coffee (worse than Folger’s Instant)
- Your happiness and self-worth depends on fulfilling your husband’s wishes, AND
- Your husband is an asshole

I’ve been thinking about this little video over the last couple of days, and I remembered something that I learned many years ago. Supposedly the coffee manufacturers were concerned because the Betty Crockers of America weren’t flocking to the stores to buy instant coffee, and it was believed that it was because of the image that buying and preparing it portrayed: that of a lazy housewife who cares so little about her husband that she takes shortcuts. As a result, marketing/consumer psychologists were called in to save the day.
